Pickett Announces More Than $461,000 for Local Fire, EMS Operations
1/22/2014
HARRISBURG – More than three dozen volunteer ambulance and fire companies throughout the 110th Legislative District in Bradford, Sullivan and Susquehanna counties will share more than $461,000 in state grant funds, thanks to the popular Fire Company and Volunteer Ambulance Service Grant Program, Rep. Tina Pickett (R-Bradford/Sullivan/Susquehanna) announced today.

This is more than $35,000 more than last year’s round, with 100 percent of the proceeds stemming from state gaming funds.

“The financial demands on our first responders are increasing all the time, with costs adding up quickly for equipment and training,” Pickett said. “Our local fire and ambulance companies spend a great deal of their time not only responding to emergencies but raising funds to keep their doors opens. I’m pleased this state grant program is able to continue to help these financially strapped companies, and I applaud them for their ongoing dedication to our communities.”

The Pennsylvania Volunteer Fire Company and Volunteer Ambulance Service Grant awards grant funding to local organizations for the construction or renovation of a fire company or ambulance service’s primary structure; the purchase or repair of firefighting, ambulance or rescue equipment; training; or debt reduction.
