Senior Citizens Invited to 17th Annual Senior Expo on June 9
Area senior citizens age 55 and older who live in the 110th District, along with their families and/or caregivers, are invited to my 17th annual Senior Expo, to be held Friday, June 9, at the Athens Lynch-Bustin Elementary School, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Our annual Senior Expo is one of the highlights of the year, as I’m able to visit with the hundreds of seniors who take the time to stop by and learn about the wide variety of programs and services available to them.

In addition, I will hold a town hall meeting at 11:30 a.m. to update seniors, their families and caregivers about state budget negotiations and many other important legislative action items we accomplished during our spring session.

Exhibitors are expected to offer information on health care, insurance, nutrition and exercise, financial planning, fraud protection, government services and veterans benefits.

Refreshments will be offered, and the school is air conditioned for seniors’ comfort.

The school is located at 253 Pennsylvania Ave. in Athens. From Route 220, take the second Athens Business Exit to Pine Street. Signs will be posted directing participants to school parking. Shuttle services will be provided from the school’s parking lot to the building’s front door.

Transportation is available via BeST Transit’s door-to-door Senior Shared Ride and Persons With Disabilities (PWD) transportation programs and the general public fixed-route (Route 15 and Route 10). Registered seniors (age 65 or older) and registered PWD passengers must call by 11 a.m. the business day before to schedule their respective trips to the Expo.

The general public fixed route is also available for the general public to use to the Expo. Passengers can catch the 9:30 a.m. bus at the Sullivan Terrace. The bus will arrive at Progress Building in Towanda at 10 a.m. Passengers will then need to transfer to the northbound Route 10 bus that leaves the Progress Building at 10:30 a.m. The Route 10 bus will travel to Greens Landing and travelers will need to transfer at Greens Landing to connect with the 11 a.m. Valley Loop bus. The bus, on this particular day, will deviate to Rep. Pickett’s Expo at Lynch Bustin Elementary School.

Passengers needing to return to Sullivan County will need to catch the 1:45 p.m. Valley Loop bus from the Expo southbound to Greens Landing. Passengers will transfer at Greens Landing to the Route 10 connector 2:10 p.m. bus. The bus will arrive to the Progress Building at approximately 2:40 p.m. There, passengers can take the Route 15 fixed back to Sullivan County.

Anyone with questions about the expo can contact Pickett’s Towanda office at (570) 265-3124 or her Sayre office at (570) 888-9011.
