CORRECTED RELEASE: This includes a corrected phone number for Rep. Pickett’s office.

MUNCY VALLEY – Concealed carry seminars that educate residents on their rights and responsibilities as firearms owners have been consistently popular across the region, and that’s why Reps. Tina Pickett (R-Bradford/Sullivan/Susquehanna) and Garth Everett (R-Lycoming/Union) will host another in the Muncy Valley area on Thursday, June 1.

The seminar, to be held at the Muncy Valley Fire Hall, will run from 6-8 p.m., and doors will open at 5 p.m.

“Pennsylvania residents dearly respect their Second Amendment rights, and for the past few years we’ve been hosting these seminars, we’ve had numerous calls from Sullivan County about bringing a seminar to them locally,” Pickett said. “I’m pleased we’ve been able to make that a reality, and we look forward to another great session with knowledgeable speakers.”

“We have had great success in Lycoming County with these seminars and they have been very popular,” said Everett. “I look forward to joining my colleague, Rep. Pickett, in hosting this event in Sullivan County. This educational event helps our residents understand the laws involved and to interact properly with law enforcement.”

Guest speakers will feature Sullivan County Sheriff Robert Montgomery, Sullivan County Public Defender Patrick Johnson and an officer from the Pennsylvania Game Commission.

In addition to an overview of the state’s firearms laws, the seminar will include information on how to safely interact with police when carrying a firearm, as well as the legal aspects of Pennsylvania’s Castle Doctrine, which allows a homeowner to use deadly force if necessary when threatened by an armed intruder.

The fire hall is located at 11997 Route 42, Muncy Valley.

Seats will fill up fast, and registration is required.

To register, call Pickett’s Towanda office at (570) 265-3124 or visit her website at RepPickett.com or call Everett’s office at (570) 398-4476, or visit his website at RepEverett.com.

Refreshments will be offered by the Muncy Valley Fire Company and North Mountain Sportsman’s Association.
