TOWANDA – Rep. Tina Pickett (R-Bradford/Sullivan/Susquehanna) announced today that the Northern Tier Workforce Development Board in Towanda received a $94,788 State/Local Internship Program Grant.

The State/Local Internship Program (SLIP) provides summer internships with local employers across the state to give interns real-world work experience to better prepare and assist them to pursue future employment opportunities.

“I want to congratulate the Northern Tier Workforce Development Board on receiving this grant,” said Pickett. “This funding will help provide job training and skills in order to better equip young adults with hands-on training and experience, so they are better prepared to enter the workforce.”

The Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry provided SLIP funding to all 22 Local Workforce Development Boards (LWDBs) that submitted proposals. The program, funded through the federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act, helps young adults develop workforce preparation skills helps and provides participants with their first work experience.
