February 15, 2019
TOWANDA – Rep. Tina Pickett (R-Bradford/Sullivan/Susquehanna) announced today that food service equipment grants totally $53,400 have been awarded to four schools in Bradford County.
The grants were awarded to four schools in two school districts; J. Andrew Morrow Elementary School, Towanda Area Elementary School and Towanda Area Senior High School, all located within Towanda Area School District; and Northeast Bradford Elementary School in Northeast Bradford School District.
J. Andrew Morrow Elementary School will receive $7,840.59 for a new dishwasher; Towanda Area Elementary School will receive $7,736.76 for a new walk-in freezer; Towanda Area Senior High School will receive $7,391.59 for a new electric convection oven; and Northeast Bradford Elementary School will receive $30,452.95 for a new conveyor dishwasher.
“I am so happy for the schools in Bradford County that received these well-deserved grants,” said Pickett. “Installation of these various state-of-the-art food service equipment pieces will help ensure our children have access to the best quality and nutritious food they need to grow and succeed.”
The grants come from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food and Nutrition Service and are distributed through the Pennsylvania Department of Education, using a competitive selection process. Priority is given to high-need schools where 50 percent or more of students are eligible for free or reduced-price meals.
