June 16, 2025
HARRISBURG – Rep. Tina Pickett (R-Bradford/Wyoming) and Sen. Gene Yaw (R-23) today announced $300,000 in state funding has been approved through the Pennsylvania Housing Affordability and Rehabilitation Enhancement (PHARE) program to support critical housing initiatives in Bradford County.
The grant was awarded to the Bradford County Homeownership Assistance Program to help with the housing shortage for low- to middle-income residents in Bradford County. Funds will be used to provide down payment assistance and closing cost grants or to help with repairs that will benefit general livability and safety.
“This grant program aids our community in providing funding for much-needed renovations and home purchasing opportunities,” said Pickett. “By investing in our neighborhoods to help low-income residents, we can create affordable housing opportunities for those struggling in our community.”
“PHARE is a crucial part of our overall effort to improve our economy and provide affordable housing to our region’s residents,” Yaw said. “This funding is a substantial investment and will certainly provide help to those who need it most. It is important to acknowledge these dollars are made available, in large part, due to our natural gas industry.”
PHARE is administered by the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency (PHFA) and funded by Marcellus Shale impact fees, realty transfer taxes and the National Housing Trust Fund. The program supports initiatives that promote housing affordability, stability and revitalization across Pennsylvania.
