Pickett, Owlett: Bradford County to Receive Nearly $17 Million in Natural Gas Impact Fees
June 16, 2026
BRADFORD – More than $16.7 million, collected from natural gas impact fees in 2025, will be distributed among Bradford County and its municipalities, Reps. Tina Pickett (R-Bradford/Wyoming) and Clint Owlett (R-Tioga/Bradford) announced today.
Bradford County government, earning the third-highest amount of funding from impact fees among all 67 counties, will receive more than $6.08 million. Fifty-one municipalities throughout the county will receive a total of $10.7 million. Funding supports infrastructure enhancements, environmental improvements, public safety initiatives and more.
“Having a strong natural gas industry here in Bradford County already does so much for our municipalities, ensuring we have power in our homes, businesses, schools and more,” Pickett said. “The impact fees give back in a completely different way. They help our local governments invest in critical services, like new projects and programs, without putting any extra burden on the taxpayer.”
“The impact fee continues to play a vital role in supporting our communities, helping to address the impacts of drilling activity while also enabling us to reap the benefits of the jobs created,” Owlett said. “With energy demand on the rise across the Commonwealth and the nation, our natural gas industry is more important than ever.”
The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission has distributed more than $3.12 billion in natural gas impact fees since the enactment of Act 13 in 2012. Fees are collected from drilling companies with 60% returned to counties and municipalities affected by drilling. The other 40% goes into the Marcellus Shale Legacy Fund, which supports statewide environmental initiatives, greenways and infrastructure projects.
Payments are expected to be distributed in early July.
