Pickett Announces More Than $1 Million to Support Safety, Mental Health in Local Schools

HARRISBURG – Rep. Tina Pickett today announced seven schools and school districts that serve students throughout the 110th Legislative District will receive a combined $1.03 million in funding to strengthen school security and behavioral health supports in the upcoming school year.
Grants were approved through the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency’s (PCCD) School Safety and Security Committee.
The funding breakdown is as follows:
• Athens Area School District: $183,718.
• Lackawanna Trail School District: $141,760.
• Sayre Area School District: $136,787.
• Towanda Area School District: $166,119.
• Tunkhannock Area School District: $187,247.
• Wyalusing Area School District: $153,660.
• Northern Tier Career Center: $70,000.
“Any investment in our schools, especially when it’s for safety and mental health purposes, is an investment in the wellness and success of all our students,” Pickett said. “This funding is critical to make sure everyone is successful and supported in their learning environments.”
The PCCD’s School Safety and Security Committee administers programs designed to improve school safety and security, strengthen behavioral health supports, and provide training and technical assistance to schools across the Commonwealth.
