Pickett to Meet with Lt. Gov Cawley on Marcellus Legislation

In efforts to advance legislation that will help promote the use of clean-burning natural gas in Pennsylvania, Rep. Tina Pickett (R-Bradford/Sullivan/Susquehanna) will be meeting with Lt. Gov. Jim Cawley on Tuesday, April 12.

Pickett and other House members who are sponsoring legislation in the Marcellus Works legislative package will be involved in the meeting.

The Marcellus Works package is designed to secure Pennsylvania’s energy future and create thousands of jobs by providing incentives for the use of clean natural gas.

“In Lieutenant Governor Cawley’s new position as chairman of the governor’s Marcellus Shale Commission, I am excited to meet with him and share with him our proposals,” Pickett said. “The Marcellus Shale development presents the Commonwealth with countless economic opportunities, and we believe this package can encourage the use of clean-burning natural gas. By encouraging further development in terms of this cleaner burning fossil fuel, not only can these proposals create jobs but they can lead to reduced air emissions and cost savings for consumers and local governments.”

The Marcellus Works package will be formally unveiled at a press conference at 10 a.m., Wednesday, April 6, at the state Capitol. The event will be streamed live at Pickett’s website at
